Counselor
Al-Nisa Strater, MA, CRC, LLPC

I believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms—it’s about creating space for healing, self-discovery, and meaningful change. My role is to walk alongside you as you process life’s challenges, uncover your strengths, and take steps toward a more fulfilling future.
I enjoy working with clients of all ages, from teens to adults. My background as a mentor for justice-involved youth and program facilitator for justice-involved adults, has shaped my belief in resilience, second chances, and the power of growth. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people through life transitions, career challenges, mood disorders, PTSD, anger, grief, relationship issues, substance use, disabilities, personality disorders, dual diagnoses, stress, spirituality, and more. My top specialties include life transitions, career counseling, mood disorders, and relationship issues.
My approach is trauma-informed, person-centered, and integrative—I tailor each session to your unique needs. I often draw from cognitive behavioral therapy CBT, solution-focused techniques, motivational interviewing, existential therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. At the heart of my work is the belief that emotions are important indicators that help us understand what’s happening within us. But while feelings are valid, they don’t have to control our choices. Together, we’ll explore the experiences you are having, gain insight into what your feelings are telling you, build tools for resilience, and create intentional steps toward the life you want.
Whether you’re navigating a big change, feeling stuck in patterns that don’t serve you, or simply seeking more fulfillment, I’d love to support you on your journey.
