Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health / Women's Health

Comforting Hands

You Deserve Support Through Every Season of Womanhood

The transition into motherhood — or through any significant chapter of a woman's life — is one of the most layered, demanding, and often isolating experiences a person can face. At Sanctuary Counseling, we believe you deserve care that sees the whole of you: not just your symptoms, but your story, your body, your relationships, and the version of yourself you're still becoming.

What Is Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health?

Perinatal mental health covers the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals from preconception through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. It's more common than most people realize — and more treatable than most people are told.

This specialty addresses:

  • Prenatal anxiety and depression

  • Pregnancy loss, miscarriage, and infertility grief

  • Birth trauma and fear of childbirth

  • Postpartum depression, anxiety, and rage

  • Postpartum OCD and intrusive thoughts

  • Identity shifts and relationship changes after having a child

  • The emotional complexity of feeding, returning to work, and adjusting to a new normal

Women's health extends beyond the perinatal window. Hormonal transitions, body image, chronic illness, reproductive grief, and the relentless weight of caregiving are all areas where mental and physical health are deeply intertwined and all areas where you deserve to be seen and supported.

How We Work With You

Treatment at Sanctuary is individualized, evidence-informed, and always attentive to your whole experience. We don't hand you a protocol, we work with you. Your history, your values, your pace.

Our clinician holds specialized certification in perinatal mental health and is actively pursuing her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), keeping her practice at the leading edge of this specialty. When appropriate, we coordinate with OBs, midwives, lactation consultants, and other care providers to ensure you're supported from every angle.

You do not have to explain yourself here. You will be believed.
